Players participate in a 40-minute practice session led by former SMF High School players and KSU women's players. Players are organized by a team Parent Coach and are taken through 3-4 practice stations working on the basic skill of soccer and body movement. The basic skills are presented in fun games designed to acquaint the players with social interaction and the physical coordination of soccer. Following the practice stations twenty minutes of small-sided games of 3v3 are used to introduce the players to the game, a team, and scoring goals! If a player is showing advanced skill/maturity they will be asked to join the U6 age group in order to challenge them. This is always presented to the parents/guardians of the child prior to the move and will need their approval.

Soccer Shorts (Needed for U5, U6, U7 only older age groups will get shorts) - Any color, black is predominant. These can be found at Dick's Sporting Goods, Soccer One, NC Soccer or other sporting goods stores.
Shin Guards - These are MANDATORY safety equipment. Shin guards should be worn UNDER the soccer socks to hold them in place while running, sliding, and kicking. We will not allow a player to play without shin guards due to insurance regulations. These can be found at Dick's Sporting Goods, Play-It-Again Sports, Soccer One, NC Soccer and many online retailers and other sporting goods stores.
Soccer Ball - These are also MANDATORY. Size 4 for most players in Youth Recreational Soccer. NOTE: U5(2013 Birth Year) players do not need a ball. A size 3 ball is provided for use, but needs to be returned each week.
Soccer Cleats - Important. Sneakers don't work well on wet grass. Baseball and Football cleats have a toe cleat that soccer cleats do not. This toe cleat is dangerous to other players in soccer. Make sure the cleats are made for soccer with no cleat on the toe. These can be found at Dick's Sporting Goods, Play-It-Again Sports, Soccer One, www.soccer.com, NC Soccer and other sporting goods stores.
Jersey - Stow Soccer Club will provide a Stow Soccer Club team colored shirt, which should be worn at each session. It is helpful to layer under the shirt so that the players shirt color is easily visible to coaches and other players.
Water bottle - Did you know that water is as important to warming the body on cold days as it is for cooling the body on warm days? Make sure your player has plenty of water to last 60 minutes. Clearly mark your child's name on their water bottle. You will notice that most of us shop at the same stores and buy the same sale water bottles! (Plastic/disposable water bottles are discouraged as they create litter)
WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS!
